American Poplar

Location: Appalachian Region
Grade: FAS, Select & Better
Characteristics: FAS American Poplar kiln dried to 6-8%. It is a deciduous tree with a pale yellowish bark that grows to a height up to 100 feet
Uses: American Poplar is considered as a paint grade and limited stain grade for Dark colors. It is an excellent base for a wood overlay.
Finishes: Stained, Oils, Waxes, Paints, Laquers and Natural

 

Red Oak

Location: Appalachian Region
Grade: FAS, Select
Characteristics: FAS Red Oak kiln dried to 6-8%. The sapwood of red oak is white to light brown and the heartwood is a pinkish reddish brown. The wood is similar in general appearance to white oak, but with a slightly less pronounced figure due to the smaller rays. The wood is mostly straight-grained, with a coarse texture.
Uses: Furniture, flooring, architectural millwork and mouldings, doors, kitchen cabinets, paneling
Finishes: Stained, Oils and Natural

 

Hard Maple

Location: Northeren Region
Grade: #1 and #2 White, Select & Better
Characteristics: Hard Maple kiln dried to 6-8%. Hard lumber with distinctive and uniform texture. Light in colour with unique grain pattern.
Uses: Architectural millwork, mouldings, paneling, and trim.
Finishes: Stained, Oils, Laquers, Natural

 

Cherry

Location: Northern Region
Grade: FAS, Select
Characteristics: FAS Black Cherry kiln dried to 6-8%. Heartwood varies from rich red to reddish-brown, with a fine, straight, close grain with narrow brown pith flecks and small gum pockets, and with a smooth texture.
Uses: Pattern making, furniture, cabinetmaking, wall paneling, doors, trim, kitchen cabinets, and flooring.
Finishes: Stained, Oils and Natural

 

Clear Pine

Location: Northern Ontario, Quebec
Grade: C&D Select
Characteristics: The heartwood colour varies from pale straw to light reddish-brown. It is a soft, straight grainedand very even textured wood with inconspicuous growth rings.
Uses: Pattern making, carving, furniture, cabinetmaking, wall paneling, doors, trim, kitchen cabinets, and flooring.
Finishes:Stained, Oils and Natural

 

Knotty Pine

Location: Northern Ontario, Quebec
Grade: #1 & 2
Characteristics: The heartwood is a pale straw colour. It is straight grained with an even and uniform texture.
Uses: Pattern making, furniture, cabinetmaking, wall paneling, doors and trim.
Finishes: Stained, Oils and Natural
